Countries as anime characters, As Tokyo prepares for the 2020 Olympics, people are already excited about it. A few Japanese artists have come together to create an unofficial promotional campaign for the event, taking inspiration from something they are very passionate about anime. They have reimagined the participating countries as cool battle-ready characters, with very Japanese designs. Each “competitor” is created with its own culture, history, and national identity in mind, offering a beautiful and harmonious visual diversity. And that’s what the Olympics are about.
Now there are 6 people working on the project, but soon more creators will join. We have been doing it for a year, explained the people of World Flags, who plan not to stop until they draw all the countries participating in the Olympics.
2. United Kingdom
We have a lot of respect for all countries. They and their flags are very important to us. We know we don’t have to treat them disrespectfully, and we constantly try to do that.
3. South Korea
We started the project after recognizing the diversity among the people of the world. We believe that illustration is the perfect tool to highlight this.
Japan and Tokyo have already started promoting the Olympics, and they are doing a good job. World Flags is not part of the Olympics, we just wanted to contribute. We believe that art can do wonders to celebrate the link between Japanese culture and the rest. of the world and recognize our differences.
